Press release on the meeting of the sub-group on countering terrorism, drug trafficking and organised crime of the Russian-German High-Level Working Group on security policy issues
On September 7, a meeting of the sub-group on countering terrorism, drug trafficking and organised crime of the Russian-German High-Level Working Group (HLWG) on security policy issues took place in Moscow and was co-chaired by Ilya Rogachev, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats, and Thomas Fitschen, German Federal Foreign Office’s Director for the United Nations, International Cyber Policy and Counterterrorism.
The meeting involved representatives of relevant Russian and German agencies who shared their assessments of global terrorist threats. The participants discussed such aspects of counter-terrorism efforts as measures to combat foreign terrorist fighters and the funding of terrorism, extremism and radicalisation. The status and prospects for bilateral cooperation to combat drug trafficking and organised crime as well as interaction at international platforms were also covered.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing constructive cooperation within the HLWG.
