Foreign Ministry statement regarding Russia’s intention to terminate the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Military-Technical Cooperation of June 14, 1996
The effective Agreement on Military-Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, signed on June 14, 1996, has, under the present circumstances, lost its relevance and practical significance. It no longer reflects the current state of Russian-German interstate relations, which have deteriorated owing to the openly hostile policies of the Federal Republic of Germany’s authorities and the increasingly aggressive militaristic ambitions of the German government.
In light of these developments, the Russian side intends to terminate this Agreement. The necessary domestic procedures for withdrawal are currently underway.
The leadership of the Federal Republic of Germany has consistently indoctrinated the German public with anti-Russia propaganda, thereby actively contributing to the escalation of the military and political situation. The German government is driven by disproportionate foreign policy ambitions that pose a direct threat to Russia’s fundamental security interests.
The consequences of Germany’s military adventures are well known.
