On October 28, Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov met with Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation Ihab Nasr at the latter’s request.

The officials discussed current aspects of Russian-Egyptian cooperation in combatting terrorism and drug trafficking. The parties reaffirmed their common approaches to countering the global terrorist threat, with the UN playing the central coordinating role. They also emphasised the need to continue joint efforts to maintain the existing international drug control regime based on three UN anti-drug conventions.
