Der Staat Israel
Comment by the Information and Press Department on the terrorist attack in Tel Aviv
According to media reports, on June 8 night, two Palestinians opened fire at visitors in an open-air market in Tel Aviv, killing four and wounding over 10 people. Both shooters have been detained. Their identities have been established.
The Israeli law-enforcement forcers have launched a military operation in Yatta, a town south of the city of Hebron where the shooters are from. Israeli authorities have also decided to suspend previously issued permits that were granted to the Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip to enter Israel, including for visiting the holy Muslim places in Jerusalem, for a period lasting the month of Ramadan.
Moscow firmly and unconditionally denounces this criminal act perpetrated in Tel Aviv, the same as any other act of terrorism that results in the suffering of innocent civilians. There can be no justification for these terrorist attacks, which seriously complicate the already far from simple situation in the region and hinder efforts towards a fair and lasting settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
