On September 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met at the Foreign Ministry with Sudanese Presidential Aide and Deputy Chair of the High Committee for Overseeing Sudan’s Relations with BRICS Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, who is in Moscow on a working visit.

The sides reaffirmed the mutual willingness of Moscow and Khartoum to step up Russian-Sudanese cooperation in international and regional affairs. Mr Al-Jaz thanked Russia for its active stance, including at the UN, in favour of forming fair approaches in the international community to problems of the inter-Sudanese settlement and Darfur.

During the discussion of the bilateral agenda, special emphasis was placed on the need to further promote the entire range of Russian-Sudanese relations. Priority was given to trade and economic cooperation, including the implementation of promising joint projects in Sudan with the involvement of Russian business circles.
