Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s meeting with Khaled Mashaal, Chairman of HAMAS Political Bureau

On April 3, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, met with a delegation of leaders of the HAMAS Palestinian movement headed by Khaled Mashaal, Chairman of the HAMAS Political Bureau, while paying a working visit to Qatar.

Mr Bogdanov and Mr Mashaal focused on the situation regarding the Middle East peace settlement and the situation in Palestinian territories. At the same time, they reaffirmed the importance of restoring Palestinian national unity as soon as possible as a highly important pre-requisite for realising the genuine aspirations of the people of Palestine for the creation of their own independent state.

The sides exchanged opinions on a number of other topical issues of the relevant agenda and focused on the resolution of the Syrian crisis.
