Press release on Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council Troika

On September 23, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council Troika on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the UN Mohamed Al-Hassan.

The discussion focused on the prospects for further enhancing Russia’s multifaceted cooperation with GCC countries, including the development of the political dialogue and stepping up trade and economic relations. The parties had a substantial exchange of opinions on current issues of the regional and international agenda.

Sergey Lavrov expressed his firm belief that the multipronged relations of the Russian Federation with GCC nations will continue developing successfully to the benefit of our nations and in the interest of forming a just, balanced and stable architecture of international relations in the Middle East and in the Gulf area.
