Press Release on the outcomes of the G20 Summit
On November 18-19, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on instructions from President Vladimir Putin.
The leaders concluded the summit by issuing the 2024 APEC Leaders’ Declaration that contains collective perspectives on critical global challenges. Under the auspices of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty was inaugurated, with Russia joining over 80 nations in its establishment.
The discussions prominently centred on the reform of global institutions, the advancement of sustainable development, and economic growth. The document articulated political matters in a manner favourable to Russia.
Statements from the Russian delegation outlined comprehensive strategies addressing the identified challenges.
For the first time, representatives from the New Development Bank and the League of Arab States were present at the summit. Additionally, South Africa, another country within BRICS, will assume the G20 presidency in the coming year.
