Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi

On June 14, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi on his initiative.

As a follow-up to the June 13 telephone conversation between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the Russian side reiterated that Moscow condemns Israel's use of force against Iran, undertaken in violation of the UN Charter and international law. Russia confirmed its readiness to continue to contribute to the efforts to resolve the situation regarding Iran's nuclear programme and to de-escalate the conflict between Iran and Israel.

Sergey Lavrov expressed condolences over numerous victims, including among civilians, as a result of the strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The sides have agreed on continuing their contacts on this subject, including on its discussion at the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors, as well as within the framework of the SCO and BRICS.
