Press release on a meeting with the heads of the diplomatic missions of Latin American and Caribbean states

On March 1, Alexander Shchetinin, Director of the Department of Latin America and the Foreign Minister’s Special Representative for Relations with Latin American and Caribbean States, met with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Latin American and Caribbean states accredited to Moscow.

At the diplomats’ request, they were fully informed of our assessment of the situation in Ukraine, the reasons for commencing the special military operation and the deadlock reached on the issue of developing relevant security guarantees.

The invariable commitment to strengthen and develop friendly relations in a positive and constructive manner with Latin American and Caribbean states on existing mutually beneficial agenda was emphasised.

Issues of interest to our partners were clarified, such as protecting the interests of their compatriots who have found themselves in the special military operation area and the functioning of foreign embassies in Moscow given the restrictions associated with the sanctions that were illegitimately imposed by a US-led group of Western countries.
