Press release on consultations between Mr. Alexei Ovchinnikov, Director-General, Department of Asian and Pacific Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Mr. Kairat Sarybay, Executive Director, Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia

On February 24, Mr. Alexei Ovchinnikov, Director-General of the Department of Asian and Pacific Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, held consultations with Mr. Kairat Sarybay, Executive Director,  Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia  (CICA). 

The agenda of the meeting was focused on deepening practical cooperation within the CICA, improving the legal and regulatory framework of the Conference and strengthening Secretariat’s human resources. The other issues discussed at the consultations included further development of the forum under Kazakhstan’s chairmanship with prospects for promoting a region-wide platform to enhance confidence building measures in various fields as well as equitable and inclusive cooperation in Eurasia.
