Concerning Remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the "World Without Zionism" Conference on October 26, 2005
Unofficial translation from Russian
PRESS RELEASE
On October 27 the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Gholam-Reza Ansari, who was told the following.
The remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the Conference called "A World Without Zionism," including a call for "wiping Israel off the map," arouse concern. Propagandist rhetoric is counterindicative in such an explosive region as the Middle East. In addition, the comments made at the conference in no way aid normal, depoliticized work on resolving the already tense situation evolving around Iran's nuclear program.
We hope that Teheran will realize the full danger of confrontationist approaches and show political farsightedness and pragmatism. Moscow is waiting for the Iranian side's response to our concern.
