Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan in New York
PRESS RELEASE
On the sidelines of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan met on September 22. This was in furtherance of the decisions of the Quadripartite Summit at Sochi on August 18, 2010.
The parties discussed the current situation in the region, considering inter alia the Afghan parliamentary elections of Sept. 18. Separately, in the context of conflict resolution in Afghanistan they emphasized the increased importance of regional organizations, primarily the SCO and CSTO.
A productive exchange of views took place on fighting terrorism, drugs and crime and developing regional economic cooperation.
