Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s consultations with Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi
On April 10, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov held consultations in Moscow with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
Speaking about the implementation of bilateral agreements reached at the top level, the officials discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the further development of the multifaceted relationship between Russia and Qatar. They also confirmed their countries’ resolve to maintain a regular trust-based dialogue and to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, the economy, investment, energy, agriculture, culture and humanitarian affairs.
The diplomats exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, including Syria, Yemen, Libya, the Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement and the Gulf zone. They pointed out that the conflicts and differences persisting in this strategic region of the world can only be resolved through political and diplomatic means based on an inclusive and equal dialogue in strict compliance with international law and the UN Charter. They expressed a common opinion on the importance of continuing to fight international terrorism and the ideology of extremism.
