Question: What are the prospects for introducing an electronic visa system for foreign citizens visiting the Kaliningrad Region?

Maria Zakharova: Under Part 3 of Article 8 of the Federal Law On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation on Issues Related to the Socioeconomic Development of the Kaliningrad Region of December 5, 2017, electronic visas will be issued to foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation via checkpoints in the Kaliningrad Region special economic zone, starting from July 1, 2019.

Before this date, the Government of the Russian Federation will approve a list of foreign states whose citizens will be able to apply for electronic visas to enter the Kaliningrad Region.
