    Natural resources

    Khakassia is a unique subject of the Russian Federation in terms of its natural and climatic and especially natural resources. In the bowels of Khakassia, practically the whole periodic table of Mendeleev have been explored.

    The Republic of Khakassia is one of the oldest mining regions in Siberia. Iron ore is extracted on its territory (reserves - 2 billion tons, large deposits of iron - Tyoyskoye, Abakanskoye). Mining and processing of molybdenum ores are carried out by the Sorsk production complex, gold and coal are mined at the Askizskoye and Beiskoye deposits, as well as nonmetallic minerals (such as barite, bentonite, facing marble and granite, building materials).

    Forest resources

    The Republic of Khakassia belongs to the multi-layered regions of Russia. Forests occupy 53.4% of the total land area of the republic. Mountainous and inaccessible forests make 96%. The total stock of wood is 444 million m3, of which coniferous forests occupy 75%, including the third part - cedar forests. Estimated cutting area is up to 2 million m3 per year. About 300 species of plants are medicinal and raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry.

    Water resources

    The hydrographic network of the Republic of Khakassia is represented by 324 large and small rivers belonging to the basins of the Yenisei and Ob rivers, which account for about 68 and 25% of the territory, respectively. The total number of lakes reaches 500, and 100 of them - salty.

    Mineral resources

    In the republic, deposits of copper, phosphorites, polymetals (lead, zinc), asbestos, gypsum, jade, and jadeite have been explored. There are explored reserves of oil and gas.

    Balance reserves of mineral raw materials, in relation to all-Russian: barite ore - 26.4%, copper-molybdenum - 25%, bentonite clays - 6.5%, facing stones - 13%, hard coal - 3%.

    Resource and raw materials potential

    The state balance of mineral resources of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia includes 100 deposits, including stocks of various minerals in 136 sectors.

    In the Republic of Khakassia, 25 deposits of fresh and mineral groundwater have been identified and evaluated (19 deposits with fresh water reserves and 6 deposits with mineral water reserves).

    The republic's contribution to the all-Russian production volumes for some types of minerals is very significant and amounts to 51% for bentonite clays, about 60% for molybdenum, 4% for barite.

    Khakassia has a number of strategic advantages that play a decisive role in investment attractiveness. The rich natural and resource potential creates wide opportunities for deep processing of raw materials and obtaining added value.
