That is why, Russia attaches utmost importance to the joint efforts of nations aimed at preserving the historical memory and preventing the falsification of history, particularly, concerning the Victory in the Great Patriotic War that ensured the enduring defeat of Nazi Germany and contributed to the end of World War II.

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, in gratitude to veterans and recognizing the feat of the participants in the special military operation, by President Vladimir Putin 2025 has declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia. Their heroic deeds and sacrifices stand out as undisputed examples of patriotism, devotion to the Motherland and the sacred duty to protect it and to defend every inch of its land.
