Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s comment for media during his visit to Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 25, 2025

Speaking before diplomats today, I have already noted the highly successful development of Russian-Turkmenistani relations of advanced strategic partnership, in line with the agreements reached by the leaders of our two nations.

Our shared assessment with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov is that we are doing our utmost to ensure these agreements are fully implemented.

Today, we acknowledged progress across most areas and outlined ways to accelerate the resolution of tasks still underway.

This pertains to trade, economic and investment projects, cultural engagement, educational exchanges, and much more – including our collaboration on the international stage within the UN, the five Caspian nations, as well as Turkmenistan’s expanding ties with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, BRICS, and the Eurasian Economic Union. We have a very clear, well-defined agenda. We will continue moving forward. I have no doubt that the current visit has made a highly valuable contribution to this progress.
