On 1 January 2015, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam enforced its new law No. 47/2014/QH13 of 16 June 2014 On the Entry, Exit, Transit and Stay of Foreign Citizens in Vietnam.

According to the new regulations, Russian citizens can travel to Vietnam for up to 15 days with passports valid for at least another six months with no visa required, if no less than 30 days have passed since the end of their previous exit from Vietnam.

If a Russian citizen wishes to travel to Vietnam again before the 30-day period expires, he or she will be required to obtain a visa at a Vietnamese consulate.
