Press release on the results of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias’s working visit
On February 11, Foreign Minister Lavrov held talks with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias, who was in Moscow on a working visit.
The ministers discussed in detail relations between the two countries and prospects for their further development in various spheres, including investment, energy and culture. The ministers emphasised their mutual commitment to step up preparations for the Year of Russia in Greece and the Year of Greece in Russia in 2016, and discussed the need to upgrade the contractual and legal framework. They also expressed their resolve to counter the harassment of Christians in the Middle East. Russia and Greece are united in their desire to give the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazism a befitting commemoration.
The ministers had an extensive exchange of views on pressing international issues, primarily the situation around Ukraine and Russia-EU relations. Achieving a settlement in Cyprus was a focal point of their discussion of regional problems.
