On the 9 April the President of the Republic of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, signed a decree regarding unilateral cancellation of visas for Russian nationals going to Panama. This document entered into force in the 14 April.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision by the leader of the Republic of Panama, which is aimed at the reinforcement of ties of friendship and stimulation of cooperation between our countries in different areas. We view this decision as a weighty contribution to the extension of the practice of visa-free travels between Russia and Latin American countries.

We confirm our readiness to conclude an intergovernmental Agreement with the Republic of Panama on conditions of refusal from visa formalities in mutual travels of our nationals in the near future.
