Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Meets with Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet

On July 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, currently in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to attend the Russia-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and the 17th session of the ASEAN Regional Forum, met with Nguyen Minh Triet, President of the SRV.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamic evolution of relations between Russia and Vietnam at this stage, reiterated the mutual disposition to consistently strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and outlined steps for the meaningful furtherance of Russian-Vietnamese contacts at the highest level.
On behalf of the Russian ‘Victory' Organizing Committee Lavrov presented a 65 Years of Victory in Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 Commemorative Desk Medal and a diploma to the head of the Vietnamese state. The head of the Russian foreign affairs agency stressed that this was evidence of the high assessment of the active stance of Vietnam on countering attempts to falsify the history of World War II.
