Terrorist Act in Kabul
PRESS RELEASE
A group of terrorists carried out a string of attacks in the heart of Kabul, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (IRA), on February 26, killing 17 and injuring over 30 people, including citizens of Afghanistan, India, Italy and France. No Russian citizens were hurt.
Russia strongly condemns this brutal act of violence, testifying to the continuing attempts by extremist forces to derail the process of normalizing the situation in Afghanistan and prepared to sacrifice the lives of innocent people. We express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the dead.
We believe in the importance of continuing a determined struggle against extremists in Afghanistan and all-out support by the international community to the appropriate efforts of the Government of the IRA. The Russian Federation intends to continue to provide necessary assistance to the emergence of Afghanistan as a sovereign, peaceful and neutral country.
