Press release on the signing of an agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Cameroon on mutual lifting visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic and service passports
On July 27, on the sidelines of the second Russia-Africa Summit in St Petersburg, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Cameroon Lejeune Mbella Mbella signed an agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Cameroon on the mutual lifting of visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic and service passports.
The conclusion of this intergovernmental agreement shows Moscow and Yaounde’s readiness to further strengthen bilateral dialogue in the spirit of mutual respect and in accordance with the key principles of the UN Charter and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of April 24, 1963.
The agreement is also designed to strengthen Russia-Cameroon friendship and cooperation, create the most favourable conditions for reciprocal travel of Russian and Cameroonian citizens – holders of diplomatic and service passports, as well as boost delegation exchanges as part of bilateral cooperation, first of all, in the political sphere, economy and culture.
The agreement comes into force ninety days after both parties notify each other in writing through diplomatic channels about their fulfilment of relevant domestic ratification procedures.
