There were the clashes between supporters of different political forces on the basis of serious disagreements on issues related to the adoption of new country constitution, and the prerogatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government in recent days in the capital of Egypt, Cairo. The epicenter of the tension was the location area of ​​the presidential palace «Al-Ittihadia», where there were also clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement agencies.

According to media reports, during the riots 5 people were killed and hundreds people got injuries of varying severity.

Moscow is closely monitoring the situation friendly in Egypt, and it is genuinely concerned about the loss of people life and injuries among the protesters and security forces. Our belief in the importance of the regulation of all aspects related to the continuation of the democratic process through dialogue and the search of mutually acceptable solutions that take into account the interests of all Egyptians remains unchanged. We are confident that this will ensure the stability of the country and further country progress on the regeneration way and it will have the fundamental meaning to the sustainable development of the region.

In these circumstances the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia to the Russian tourists and citizens, who are in Egypt, to avoid places of social tensions and mass demonstrations remains actual. The situation in the resort areas of the Red Sea remains calm.
