Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Moscow, January 23, 2017
Mr Minister,
Dear Peter,
It is a pleasure to welcome you and your delegation to Moscow.
Let me start by once again, on behalf of the Russian leaders, expressing our condolences over the deaths of Hungarian children in the road accident on the night of January 21 in Italy. President of Russia Vladimir Putin already sent his condolences to Hungarian President Janos Ader and Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
We value this opportunity today to continue the constructive dialogue we have developed intensively in all areas over these last years. We have before us a number of objectives set at the meeting that took place nearly a year ago between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Moscow.
I know that aside from the meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry today, you will also have the opportunity to discuss with the relevant Russian officials practically all areas of our cooperation. The work we accomplish in Moscow will most certainly contribute to preparing for the next summit, scheduled for early February in Budapest. There is important work ahead and I hope it will be productive.
