PRESS RELEASE
The Super Typhoon Haiyan which struck the Philippines resulted in many victims amongst the people and massive destruction. The country has declared a state of national emergency. Russia together with other members of the international community is providing the necessary aid to the Philippines. The inhabitants of regions which suffered this natural disaster are being evacuated.
Russian tourists were also caught up in the disaster in different parts of the country (Manila, Palawan, Cebu, Boracay, etc.) and have experienced difficulties with their return home due to the disruption of transport links. Measures to assist our compatriots are being undertaken.
