Memorial sign in honor of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War opened in Zambia
On February 1, a memorial sign dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War was unveiled on the territory of the Russian House in Lusaka. The event was attended by Russian compatriots living in Zambia, Zambian youth planning to study in Russia, as well as employees of the Russian Embassy.
The gathering was greeted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Zambia Azim Yarakhmedov. The diplomat said that the unveiling of the memorial sign symbolizes the beginning of events dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory.
The memorial sign was created on the initiative of the Russian House in Lusaka with the active participation of young compatriots as a place of attraction for all patriotically minded Russians, as well as Zambian citizens who have respect and sympathy for Russian history and culture.
