Press release on Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin

On August 10, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavel Klimkin by phone.

During the conversation that took place upon Mr Klimkin’s request, the ministers discussed the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine and the fulfilment of the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements of February 12, 2015 in the context of future constitutional reforms and the upcoming local elections. They also discussed ways of ensuring the ceasefire and security along the demarcation line in Ukraine’s southeast. Special attention was attached to the critical humanitarian situation in the region. The Russian side reiterated the need for a direct dialogue between Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk to promote mutually acceptable solutions to existing problems.
