Press release on the signing of a Russian-US agreement to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing

On September 11, Russia and the United States signed an intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Prevention, Control and Elimination of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.

The Agreement was signed during the 26th meeting of the Intergovernmental Consultative Committee (ICC) on Fisheries in Portland, Oregon, and is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the joint struggle against poaching and to preserve marine resources.

We view the signing of this Russian-US agreement as evidence of a mutual desire to maintain pragmatic cooperation in the areas where the national interests of our states objectively coincide.
