Press release on Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby
On September 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Mr Lavrov and Mr Elaraby exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa and emphasised the need to expand collective efforts for the political-diplomatic resolution of regional crises. They touched on several practical tasks related to the resumption of the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue, with the Middle East Quartet of international mediators playing the lead role, and the fastest possible cessation of the civil war in Syria.
