The Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs information and press Department’s comment on the statement of the Syrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs representative
Moscow has taken notice on the statement of the Syrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs representative at a press-conference held on 23 July, concerning possible use of chemical weapons by the country's authorities in case of any foreign aggression.
In this connection we would like to note, that in 1968 Syria ratified and joined the Geneva protocol of 1925 prohibiting the use of asphyxiating, toxic and other similar gases as means of warfare.
The Russian side is confident that the Syrian authorities will henceforth keep to its international commitments.
