Traffic accident in Thailand

On the 11 October, a tour bus transporting a group of 42 Russian tourists, including four children, crashed in the Kanchanaburi Province of Thailand (130 km from Bangkok).

Svetlana Simonenko, a Russian national, died in this traffic accident. 35 injured persons were taken to a hospital in the Kanchanaburi Province with injuries of varying severity. Five people are comatose.

The Thai police are investigating the circumstances of this incident. According to preliminary information, the accident might have taken place due to a malfunctioningof the bus.

The RussianEmbassy in Bangkok maintains constant contacts with the representatives of local authorities and medical institutions. Consular employees were sent to the Kanchanaburi Province to assist the Russian nationals.
