Press release on retaliatory measures against German media operating in the Russian Federation following the ban on RT DE broadcasting in Germany
Russia intends to implement the following first stage of retaliatory measures as part of a package of reciprocal measures announced on February 2 in response to the unfriendly actions by the Federal Republic of Germany, which banned the satellite and other types of broadcasting by the German-language TV channel RT DE:
- closing the office of the German TV and radio broadcaster Deutsche Welle in the Russian Federation;
- revoking the accreditation of all employees of the Deutsche Welle Russian bureau;
- terminating Deutsche Welle’s satellite and other broadcasting in the Russian Federation;
- suggesting that the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation consider recognising Deutsche Welle as a foreign media outlet performing the functions of a foreign agent;
- launching the process of compiling a list of German government officials and representatives of public organisations involved in the effort to restrict RT DE broadcasting and bring other types of pressure on the Russian media operator, who will be banned from entering the Russian Federation. The list will not be published.
The information on subsequent stages of the retaliatory measures will be published in due time.
