On August 21, 2003, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Yuri Fedotov received Angelina Jolie, Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), staying on an unofficial visit to the Russian Federation.

In the course of the meeting an exchange of views took place on the situation of the persons who have been forced to leave their places of permanent residence on the territory of the Chechen Republic, and on the current state of, and prospects for cooperation by the Russian Federation with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in this direction.
