Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Mekdad

On July 3, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Mekdad, at the initiative of the Syrian side.

The foreign ministers exchanged views on pressing issues on the regional agenda. They discussed in detail the situation in and around Syria. The main focus was on joint coordination at the United Nations.

Sergey Lavrov stressed the importance of the May decision to restore Syria's rights in the Arab League and its positive effect on various processes in the Middle East and North Africa.

Faisal Mekdad reiterated the Syrian leadership’s support for Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.
