Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty

On February 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt Badr Abdelatty.

During their conversation, the ministers exchanged opinions on key regional issues, while prioritising the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. They emphasised the need for more intensive international efforts in the interests of facilitating the future implementation of the stage-by-stage ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and exchanging detained persons, as well as expanding humanitarian aid shipments for the enclave’s residents.

While discussing the Ukraine crisis, Sergey Lavrov assessed the latest developments in the context of implementing the goals of the special military operation.

The ministers also reviewed long-term projects and guidelines for enhancing the traditionally friendly Russian-Egyptian relations still further. They reaffirmed a mutual commitment to maintaining trust-based political dialogue, expanding trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as mutual coordination within the UN.
