Press release on an exchange of congratulatory messages between the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Guatemala on the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala Carlos Ramiro Martínez Alvarado exchanged messages of greetings on the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, marked on April 19.

Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia and Guatemala had long-standing friendly relations and had accumulated experience of fruitful cooperation in various areas. He reaffirmed his country’s invariable readiness for joint efforts to develop constructive political dialogue and promote cooperation in trade, the economy, culture and the humanitarian area, based on mutual respect, equality and pragmatism.

Carlos Ramiro Martínez noted for his part that the historical bonds of friendship were a solid basis for intensifying Russian-Guatemalan ties and expanding the bilateral and multilateral agenda for the benefit of both countries.
