Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of Burkina Faso Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré
On November 9, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of Burkina Faso Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi.
During their conversation, an extensive scope of issues related to the further promotion of traditionally friendly bilateral relations was discussed, including considering the resumption of the activities of the Embassy of Russia in Ouagadougou in December 2023. The two ministers also reaffirmed their mutual intention to step up bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and expand interaction in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
When discussing international and regional problems, including the developments in the Sahara-Sahel zone, the sides noted Moscow and Ouagadougou’s consolidated principled approaches based on the understanding of the necessity for establishing a more just, polycentric world order under the rule of international law and the UN Charter, and abandoning the practice of external dictate and neocolonialism.
