Official Visit to the Russian Federation by Hugo Roger Martinez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador

Hugo Roger Martinez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador, paid an official visit to Russia on October 21-23, the first by a Salvadoran Foreign Minister.

In talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the main focus was on the development of bilateral ties. A thorough exchange of views took place on international and regional issues.

The Ministers underlined the commitment of both countries to the concept of multilateralism in international affairs, to the establishment of a multipolar global governance architecture, and noted the commonality of their countries' positions on major international issues. Hugo Roger Martinez conveyed an invitation to Sergey Lavrov to pay an official visit to the Republic of El Salvador. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.

Following the talks a Joint Statement of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries was signed, along with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of El Salvador, and a Cooperation Agreement between the Russian MFA Diplomatic Academy and the Specialized Institute of Higher Diplomatic Education of the MFA of El Salvador.

During his stay in Moscow, Hugo Roger Martinez visited the National Center for Crisis Management of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia, and was received by Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alexander Avdeyev.
