Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Yvan Gil Pinto
On September 25, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Yvan Gil Pinto in New York on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, held in a trust-based atmosphere, the ministers reaffirmed coinciding approaches of Russia and Venezuela to topical international issues and charted future steps to deepen foreign policy coordination, including within the framework of the Group of Friends in the Defence of the Charter of the United Nations. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to building a truly multipolar world, the need for all countries to unfailingly honour international law and to renounce the use of unilateral coercive measures as a tool for interfering in the affairs of sovereign states.
The ministers noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations in the context of strategic partnership and agreed on plans to comprehensively strengthen them.
