Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Algerian Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel

On February 1, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Abdelkader Messahel, Algeria’s Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League, in Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the fourth ministerial meeting of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.

The parties focused on furthering Russian-Algerian political cooperation in regional and international affairs and expanding mutually beneficial bilateral trade and economic cooperation. They exchanged opinions on current issues on regional and international agendas and focused on the situation in Libya. At the same time, they noted the importance of consolidated actions by the international community and regional organisations in the fight against terrorism in the Middle East and Africa.
