Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Ahmed Maiteeq

On March 2, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Ahmed Maiteeq.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala, the officials discussed in detail the current situation in Libya and the prospects of the domestic crisis settlement. Russia stressed the importance of continuing the intra-Libyan dialogue on the basis of the December 2015 political agreement signed in Skhirat, Morocco. An emphasis was placed as well on the need for all major political forces, tribal groups and regions to take part in the political process. Russia expressed readiness to continue providing all possible assistance to the parties in Libya to help reach lasting agreement on issues of national accord.
