Detention of the Oleg Naydyonov, a Russian fishing ship, by the Senegalese authorities

On the 5 January, the Oleg Naydyonov, a Russian fishing ship, suspected of illegal fishing in the special economic area of Senegal, was delivered to the seaport of Dakar under escort of a Senegalese patrol boat.
Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Dakar visited the Russian ship and met its captain and crew members. The health conditions of the Russian fishermen are normaland the ship has all necessary supplies for life on-board.
The Russian Embassy contacted the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain clarifications regarding military action against the Russian fishing ship. In cooperation with a representative of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency in Dakar, our diplomats are taking further steps to release the ship as soon as possible, so it can leave.
