Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the verdict of the French court on the Femen case

2120-12-09-2014

We note the recent verdict of "not guilty" brought by the Paris court against the Femen activists, who organised a disorderly protest inside the Notre Dame de Paris in February 2013. It was undoubtedly politically motivated in nature .

The hurt feelings of the religious faithful, who were outraged by the desecration of the most sacred French cathedral, were ignored because the protest was politically appropriate.

At the same time, as if mocking common sense, the court fined the guards of Notre Dame, who were accused of treating the Femen activists in an extremely rough way.

What else can we expect from the French justice system, if the notorious leader of the instigators, Ukrainian national Inna Shevchenko, was chosen as 'Marianne', the symbol of the Republican France in 2013?

It is a quirk of fate.. Those in the French and western establishments who do not see facts which are evident: intrusion and desecration of religious sanctities while at the same time are bleating about some mythical intrusion of Russia into Ukr They are keeping double standards..
