Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf

On November 8, on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The ministers discussed topical issues of further promoting the deep strategic partnership between Russia and Algeria. They noted with satisfaction the high level of coordination at various multilateral venues, including the UN Security Council.

They also had a trust-based discussion on global and regional matters of mutual interest, with an emphasis on the developments in the Middle East and the Sahara-Sahel region and on the need to find a prompt resolution of conflict situations exclusively via political and diplomatic means based on the generally recognised principles of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter.
