On September 24, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Ramtane Lamamra on the sidelines of the 76^th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The ministers discussed priority steps to promote Russia-Algeria relations, primarily, by way of stepping up the political dialogue and the effectiveness of multifaceted cooperation.

An exchange of views on pressing issues of the global and regional agenda, including Syria, Libya and the Western Sahara settlement, took place. The ministers highlighted the importance of resolving conflicts exclusively on the basis of universally recognised principles of international law, without outside interference and with respect for the people’s right to determine their own future.
