On September 23, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Foreign Minister of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi on the sidelines of the 76^th session of the UN General Assembly. 

The discussion focused on important aspects of Russian-Japanese relations. The two ministers looked at the prospects for carrying out the agreement reached by the leaders of their countries on the comprehensive development of bilateral relations in order to take them to a completely new level, including expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and the economy.
