On the release of Russian helicopter navigator S. K. Sevastyanov
PRESS RELEASE
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has announced the release of the crew of a Pakistan Punjab Province administration Mi-17 helicopter. The crew had been held since August 4 by a Taliban group after a forced landing in Afghanistan’s Logar Province. The released crew includes the helicopter’s Russian navigator, S. K. Sevastyanov.
Mr Sevastyanov is expected to be transferred very soon to the Russian embassy in Islamabad, which will organise his return home.
We express our deep gratitude to the Pakistani and Afghan authorities for their strenuous efforts in obtaining Mr Sevastyanov’s release.
