Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan
On March 10, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The ministers discussed topical matters of the bilateral agenda, including preparations for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s official visit to the Russian Federation in April 2022, as well as a number of other events marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The officials exchanged opinions on regional matters and reaffirmed the striving of both countries to consistently fulfil the agreements between Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leaders of November 9, 2020, and January 11 and November 26, 2021. They discussed steps to further stabilise the situation in the South Caucasus.
They coordinated approaches towards advancing cooperation within integration associations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Armenia, which currently chairs the CSTO, informed the Russian party about its plans to streamline the Organisation’s activities.
The Ministers also touched upon some other international matters, including in the context of Russian proposals on Euro-Atlantic security guarantees.
